Project Information The on-going reforms in China’s law and legal policies have been a constant focus of the Center for Reform Theory and Practice (CRTP) of Peking University. Until today, however, reforms in the media sector and the legal issues concerned have not been adequately addressed. Through the process of industrialization and transition to a market economy, the media industry in China has undergone substantial changes in recent decades. These changes, in turn, have placed significant challenges to media regulations. In January 2011, through a joint effort between CRTP and the Center for Civil and Commercial Law (CCCL) of Renmin University of China, the current project of “Sino-EU Comparative Media Law and Policy Studies” was launched and sponsored by EU funding. The aim of this three-year (2011.1-2013.12) project is to promote legislation and reforms in media regulation and policies in China. The project has gained support from state bureaus as well as from China University of Political Science and Law, Communication University of China, and is co-sponsored by Great Britain China Center and the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy at Oxford University. In order to foster further progress for the project, we established this online platform to share research information with all those interested in the topic. And we welcome your attention and participation.
